Peer Feedback

Long time No SeešŸ¤£! During this 2-week absence, a lot has been getting done. We have had Peer feedback sessions from multiple different Movie Studios in class. We were told that in order to grab our audience straight from the beginning, we needed to add more music in the beginning and throughout the film. We were also told that one of the scenes in our movie would have deter the audience from believing that Lucas only wanted to love Sabrina and Sabrina only wanted to love Lucas with the end result being us cutting the scene out of our movie. We were also told that adding an extra scene showing Lucas's creepiness in his overwhelming love for Sabrina. We added a scene for that as well. We were also suggested to cut down some of the black screen when Lucas hits Sabrina. Peer Reviews are very helpful and was especially helpful for our movie because without it we would just go producing movies to what our eyes like and not what the public may like.

If you didn't enjoy the movie, you will certainly enjoy these very funny bloopers!!!

This was made a blooper Because Makahi O. forgot his lines.
This was made a blooper Because Chelsea S. Couldn't stop laughing.
This was made a blooper because there was background walla.

First Draft of Toxic Ways

For this assignment, me and my teammates were tasked to create a film opening, using the knowledge and techniques we have been taught during the 7 months in the class. This post is all about the first draft of our movie. A first draft of a movie is an important stepping stone in figuring out the project's potential, its biggest limitations and what it might look like to an eventual audience. We have decided to create a Horror/Thriller film and the name is “Toxic Ways”. It will be in theaters in the coming weeks.

All good things must come to an end huh?

Yes, it is true, sadly this will be the last post pertaining to the 3-PART Series. In this series we talked about Pre-Production, Production Week, and Post-Production. With all of that coming to an end and Motion Productions having a clear date of April 1st for our movie to come out, there is nothing else for us to talk about. With the knowledge you learned from these blogs, the only right for you to do now is create your own movie! I hope you enjoyed this series because I had a lot of fun creating and setting up these blogs, if you missed anything you can just go back and reread it.

PART 3: Editing

We had a total of 68 shots with the total time being estimated to 1 hour and 2 minutes. Of course, this would not be the length of our movie, so we had to edit it down 2 minutes. For editing, our Lead editor decided to choose the Software "CapCut" to edit our movie on. She said she it very easy and is familiar with the different tools and gadgets on it. With our lead editor done editing me and our lead cameraman went to give her a mini peer review and told her what should be fixed and what needed a little tuning. With all of this done, we created our first draft... In tomorrow's blog, you will be able to view it.

PART 2: Cast

In this blog, I will be going over the cast of Toxic Ways.

In film, cast pertains to the actors in a movie, play, or show. The cast of Toxic Ways contains 6 actresses and 1 actor with a total of 7 cast members.

This is Sabrina. Sabrina is the Main character of the Film as she is "Creepy Lucas" girlfriend. Sabrina likes music and plays the trumpet. This picture was taken on the set of Toxic Ways.

This is Lucas. Lucas is 2nd Main Character in this film considering the fact that he is creepy and is the boyfriend of Sabrina. He likes planes and has a part time job at the local mortuary.

This is Lucas's Ex. She knows everything about Lucas that he tries to hide from his current girlfriend, Sabrina. She likes heavy metal and anime.

This is friend #1 and #2. They both known each other from elementary school and knew Sabrina from middle school.

This is friend #3. She just moved from Trinidad and Tobago and Sabrina was the only one to not make fun of her accent.

PART 2: Camera Work and Camera Movement

This blog will focus on the Camera Work and Camera Movements of Toxic Ways and how it will give the accurately tell time and location. The camera placement and movement is one of the most crucial aspects in every film production. It represents the overall vision of the director, the skill of the director of principal photography, and their ongoing collaboration throughout the filmmaking process.

While planning that Camera work and Camera Movement section of Toxic Ways, we tried to fit in a copious amount of different camera angles, shots sizes, camera framing, camera movements and everything type of shot that pertains to what is taught in Aice Media Studies. In this blog, I will go over a blooper and explain the significance of the types of Camerawork or Camera Movements.

This shot is a Dolly-Master-Two shot. It is a dolly shot because that camera slides backwards then turns into a master shot because it emphasizes the dramatic background ad focuses on the 2 characters, it is also a two shot because it only contains two characters in it.

This is a blooper due to the fact that Sabrina forgot her lines and everyone on set began to laugh.

PART 2: Setting

This blog will focus on the setting of Toxic Ways and how it matches the movie and its genres and main ideas. Setting in film is the time and place in which a story is told. establishes the mood, reveals characters and conflicts, and gives clues to a story's theme

The setting of Toxic Ways is Piper Highschool's Campus. Given that Piper Highschool gives off a sort of gloomy sense of lighting in many parts of the structure, Motion Productions decided that this is where the set of the movie will be filmed. This is also another good setting due to the fact that Sabrina and Lucas are highschoolers. The setting mixed with the establishing shots in the film can reaffirm the audience that the characters in the film are highschoolers. This movie takes place during the spring in 2023. The time of day in the film is midday. The Socioeconomic status of the characters are that they are in the middle class with Sabrina being one of the only few who are in the upper class.

This is the "Teacher" and "Sabrina" on set of Motion Production's "Toxic Ways".

NOTICE: Laying off a Team Member

Today, Motion Production, with a 3-1 vote, decided that it would be in the best interest of everyone in the group to lay off one of our members. This laying off was thought of over time with evidence and internal concerns the decision was made. This laying off was due to the concerns of horseplay and putting our Cambridge Aice Diploma in jeopardy.
At Motion Production, we take this matter very seriously and under no circumstances will there be any unwilling team member that can potentially sabotage the Aice Diploma for anybody in this Company.

PART 1: StoryBoard

So, What is a Storyboard and why is it so Important?

A storyboard is something all films have. Without a storyboard, directors wouldn't know what their movie looks like. They wouldn't even know the camerawork and camera movement techniques used in their film. So now to the real question, What is a Storyboard? Storyboards are papers with the illustrations of what is to happen in the movie, it can feature camera movements and camerawork techniques. So now that you know what a Storyboard is, all you have to do is Pick up your pen and begin putting your movie on paper.

Here is an example of what Motion Production came up with.

PART 1: Toxic Ways Script

In this Blog I will be going over what a script is, why is it important to the filmmaking progress and who is the screenwriter in this film.

A script is one of the most important things when it comes to movie production. A script is a document that comprises of dialogue and stage directions for movies, Tv Shows, Videogames, Stage Plays, etc. Without a script, actors and actresses wouldn't know what to do and how to even act. A script tells the actor more than just what to say, it also tells them what to do and how pronounce stuff.

The screenwriter of my film is Makahi O. of Motion Productions. I was chosen for this position due to my love for books, storytelling and story making. In the film he also plays the role of "Lucas", the antagonist.

Below is an example of what the script of our film looks like:
